Our database includes all inscriptions we collected in Jewish cemeteries at locations listed under the "Database" tab. The list is being expanded as we index subsequent cemeteries.
The cataloging process in Warsaw took place between 2006 and 2010. All remaining Mazovian Jewish cemeteries were indexed in 2010-2011. In 2012 we have founded he Foundation for Documentation of Jewish Cemeteries to continue indexing Jewish cemeteries in Poland.
From the beginning the project of the inventory and the Internet database was sponsored by Mr Emile Karafiol.
The inventory of cemeteries has been possible thanks to a scholarship from the Creativity Promotion Fund of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, the Malcolm Stern Award granted by the IAJGS, the financial support of private sponsors, i.e. Emil Karafiol, Emily Rosenberg and Mel and Deana Fishman, the institutional financial participation of the Jewish Religious Community in Warsaw, the JRI-Poland Foundation, the Committee for the Preservation of Monuments of Jewish Culture in Tarnów, the Museum of the City of Pabianice, the Memory and Dialogue Association in Brzesko, and also, thanks to several grants form the Association of the Jewish Historical Institute in Poland. In 2023, works took place at Jewish cemeteries in Suwałki (supported by Emily Rosenberg), Augustów (own funds), Tarnów (additional data added with the support of the Committee for the Preservation of Monuments of Jewish Culture) and Majdan Królewski, Sandomierz, Tarnobrzeg and Kolbuszowa (grant of the Polish Jewish Historical Institute).
The database includes also photographs made in Prudnik by Łukasz Wylęgała, who kindly allowed us to use them and add data obtained from them to our records.
