WELCOME TO THE DATABASE OF THE JEWISH CEMETERIES
IN POLAND

Welcome to the Internet database of the Warsaw Jewish Cemetery at Okopowa Street and the Internet database of Jewish cemeteries in Mazovia. The cataloguing process took place from 2006 to 2010. The database contains all inscriptions we have found in the field. The website also includes a database of inscriptions we collected in 2010-2011 in all remaining Mazovian Jewish cemeteries.

From the beginning the project of the inventory and the Internet database was sponsored by Mr Emile Karafiol

Compiling the inventory of Mazovian cemeteries was possible thanks to a grant from the Polish Ministry of Culture and the support of Mr Emile Karafiol, as well as the Jewish Community of Warsaw and Mel and Deana Fishman of Thornhill, Ontario, Canada.

Our database includes all inscriptions we collected in Jewish cemeteries at the following locations: Warszawa, Szydłowiec, Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki, Otwock, Pruszków, Wysokie Mazowieckie, Mińsk Mazowiecki, Grodzisk Mazowiecki, Sochaczew, Karczew, Piaseczno, Żyrardów, Radom, Płock, Siedlce, Góra Kalwaria, Błonie, Mszczonów, Wiskitki, Żelechów, Garwolin, Łaskarzew, Okuniew, Brok, Węgrów, Gąbin, Wyszków, Łosice, Sierpc, Przytyk i Strzegowo.

The database includes also photographs made in Prudnik by Łukasz Wylęgała, who allowed us to use them and add data obtained from them to our records.

The browser sorts the results of a query by their relevance (shown in percentage) as well as displays matching maiden names with an adequate annotation. We therefore encourage you to look through all names shown by the browser.

The browser looks for results in all cemeteries and produces a list of cemeteries first. You can then choose the relevant ones.

Please direct all inquiries concerning the functioning of the database to our team at e-mail: gesia@jewish.org.pl
